NDL/HIDC achieve an increase in logistical investments

NDL/HIDC, the logistical partner of the NFIA, has achieved a considerable increase in the number of closed contracts in the previous calendar year. This year, the logistical association counted 45 contracts, with a total investment value of € 29 million. These produced 463 jobs. In addition, NDL/HIDC closed 30 logistical contracts which did not produce direct investments or jobs, but that did make a contribution to the turnover of logistical service providers, and through that, to the Dutch economy. Finally, NDL/HIDC signed 21 contracts for logistical and tax consultancies.

Interest
NDL/HIDC indicates that the interest of both American and Asian companies in the European market, and particularly for the Netherlands, is large. Causes are the low conversion rate of the dollar, but also the increased promotion efforts in the relevant countries. Thanks to direct contact with, and logistical recommendations to, a large number of companies, the NDL/HIDC increased the knowledge of, and the interest in, the Netherlands as a logistical country. The recommendations to foreign companies were in regards to, amongst other things, the foundation or restructuring of logistical chains.

Gateway
Dirk 't Hooft, general director of NDL/HIDC, said, "the current economic situation is the reason for many companies to reconsider their logistical structure. Through our intensive contacts with companies in Asia and North America, we can directly match these foreign companies with logistical service providers established in the Netherlands. Additionally, we make recommendations to these companies on setting up their European supply chain. The good results that we have booked this year, are a boost to the joint efforts of the NFIA and NDL/HIDC to position the Netherlands as the Gateway to Europe abroad.

Holland International Distribution Council (NDL/HIDC)
The Holland International Distribution Council, known in the Netherlands as the "Nederland Distributieland" association (NDL/HIDC), has as its mission the strengthening of the Dutch logistics competitive position. NDL/HIDC does this by attracting the European supply chain activities of foreign shippers to the Netherlands. The association numbers around 450 members, including logistical service providers, transportation hubs, and other organizations that are directly or indirectly involved in the Dutch business culture.
