Netflix Opens European Headquarters in Amsterdam

The U.S.-based company’s new headquarters will service all of Europe, with the potential to expand

The media streaming giant opened its European headquarters in Amsterdam this month. The new location, which was formally located in Luxembourg, will host about 30 employees and focus on marketing and sales for all of Europe.

“Now, this is just the European Headquarters, but it is a matter of time before this office will serve as the headquarters for Africa and the Middle East as well,” says Netflix’s vice president, Joris Evers, who expects the company to grow substantially in the coming years.

The Netherlands’ fast internet speeds and e-commerce-friendly climate are advantages Netflix will benefit from with their relocation from Luxembourg to Amsterdam. In 2013, Netflix ranked the Netherlands as the top country for video streaming speeds.
